Honors Night

Marissa attends a very large high-school in Georgia. She has worked so hard this year and we are so proud of her! Her school hosted an Honors Night. I was little concerned about going because I thought for sure we would be there forever since in her freshmen class alone there are 756 students. I was WRONG! Each teacher in the department (such as math, language arts, etc) was able to nominate one student from their four classes to go up for an award. Then the department had to decide together which student would receive the award. Marissa received two awards at Honors Night. Her first award was for Language Arts and her second award was for Math! We are so proud of her hard work this year!

This was before we left the house and the best picture I could get!
Walking up to receive her award in Language Arts
Receiving her Language Arts Award
I don't have any pictures of her receiving her math award, because Colin refused to watch any longer so we had to walk out while Daddy and Cade watched!

YAY, Marissa! We are so proud of you! Keep up the good work!

I DID IT!

I completed my first ever 5K on Thursday night! I had been "training" with my friend Lene' for a few weeks. I felt so great about the whole thing until I got there! I completely freaked out at that point. There were so many people and this was my first race ever! I was very scared but I did it!
There was actually a whole group of us that did the 5K. It just so happened that this was the first time Lene' and I had ever done one. We were very excited and of course nervous! The picture above was taken before the race. Our team had shirts made for the race and we all tied the sleeves up with cute little ribbon except for Lene'. I am not sure why she didn't? I am going to have to ask her now!

And here we are AFTER the race!
We changed shirts so we wouldn't be as stinky and sweaty!
It was so much fun that I can't wait to do the next one with a group of us again!

Wordless Wednesday

Yeah, not so much!

This is the time of year that I HATE. Yes, I know this is a super strong word, but at this time of the year things get so busy at work. I feel like I am going to pull all my hair out! I have about one week to get all my grades so that I can figure out honors for the year. I have about two weeks to get my slide show together for the end of the year. I have about two and half weeks to get my memory books together for my class. I have one week before we go on our field trip and I feel like I am so not ready.

I AM READY FOR SUMMER BREAK! I will get to spend the summer with two of my favorite boys. We can play and go to the beach and go to the pool and do all sorts of fun things! No getting up early, no going to school, no staying late, no writing lesson plans, no making smart files, no worrying about HOMEWORK for my own personal children. I just can't wait!

And just because I love this picture so much!
I knew you all would want to see it!

5 minute Friday - Distance

1. Write for 5 minutes flat for pure unedited love of the written word.

2. Link back to thegypsymama and invite others to join in {you can grab the button in my right side bar}

3. Go leave some comment props for the five minute artist who linked up before you

Ready, Set, GO:

How do you define distance? The space between two people, the space between two places... I really had to think about this one. I remember five years and half years ago feeling a huge distance from my one and only son, at the time. I remember thinking how was I going to make it my whole life if he didn't make it with me. I remember thinking that being 45 minutes from him was too far.

Distance - it probably happens in marriages and in relationships between other people, other than spouses. How do you prevent that from happening? I guess this is one of the things that also jumps into my mind when I think of distance. I wonder how that distance occurs - who is the one that makes it happen and who is the other that keeps it going?

Distance can be easy or hard on a person - depending on where they are in life. I think of the distance from myself to my grandmother. It seems like she is pretty far away. Would it be easy to make it if something happened to her? Sure, would I miss precious moments - probably.

When I was in highschool I remember thinking I can't wait to get out of this place - and put some distance between myself and my family. It never happened. I am glad it didn't -I am not sure what I would do if I was far away from my mother at this point in my life.

AND STOP

Happy Friday Everyone! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend with their families!

It's been almost a week!

But I have been so busy with crazy stuff. I am "training" for my first 5K, so I have been doing lots and lots of running these days. I am also trying to get things done around the house in the evening as well as spend time with my kiddos!

On Saturday, my brother and his wife came down and we celebrated my mother's birthday! I tried taking some pictures, but of course I didn't do a very good job. We did a picture with my grandparents, my mother, my brother, and all the kids.

This is how it turned out...
We took about ten of these pictures, and none of them were any better than this!

My mother also had Easter eggs for the kids and of course that was a HUGE hit with all the kids. They could have hunted eggs for hours and hours. I forgot how much they enjoy doing that, so I guess that will make a good weekend activity for us since it is supposed to rain Saturday!

Five Minute Friday - If You Met Me...

Ready, Set, GO...

If you met me you would probably think I was kind of bitchy. This isn't on purpose of course, it is just that I have so much social anxiety, it makes me nervous to meet new people. If you met me you would notice that I make a ton of crazy faces while I am talking. You might also notice that I constantly flip my hair while I am talking to you. If you met me you mind find out more things about me than you really wanted to know. If you met me you would wonder if I have this much energy all day long. If you met me you would probably think I was a bit dramatic! I love that part of me because it makes me just a bit unique. I am not dramatic in a bad way, but a fun way. If you met me you would find out I am a first grade teacher and I love my job. If you met me you would meet two of the most important people in my life as well. If you met me you would know that I am super fun to be around even if I am quiet at first. If you met me you would know I love the finer things in life! If you met me you would probably wonder how in the world I make it from 5 am until 11pm without one single minute of rest! If you met me you would know that I love my family and I love my friends. If you met me you would know that I can't do anything without my phone. I am not even sure how I sleep without that thing somedays. If you met me you would know that I love to shop. Buying clothes for my boys is a just a fun hobby for me.

I am going to try this...

I am not sure how many times I will be able to participate because who knows when I will remember to do it on Friday. BUT after reading this sweet lady's five minute Friday - I was inspired so here goes nothing...

A few of my favorite things….

GO:

I started thinking what are my favorite things - well I have lots of them. Coffee, going to the beach, running, shopping, teaching my class, technology. Then I started really thinking about this and I thought - my favorite things are my boys. No, they aren't things they are little tiny human beings that Larry and I created together. They are two little boys that we are molding into productive citizens. They are my favorite things! Their laughs, their smiles, their hugs and kisses, their sweet smell after a bath, their sweet cuddles, and who could forget their sweet voices saying "Mama" multiple times in one days. Those are my favorite things - everything about those sweet boys. I treasure them so much and I feel so blessed to be their mother. I am glad that they get to be my favorite things FOREVER.

STOP

What is that I see?

It's not just peeking through the clouds today! It is in full force with NO RAIN or CLOUDS! Can you guess what I see on the LAST official day of Spring Break?
If you guessed the SUN you are right!

This little boy and I have a date today.
Can you guess where?
