Let's be clear, that I HATE going to the dentist. I pay the extra $30.00, although last year it was only $15.00, to get the "gas" to calm me down. I can't stand any of the sounds in there. It literally makes my skin crawl, especially when they start "scraping" with the hook tool. I am sure it has real name I just don't know it nor do I care to know it. So when it was time for Colin's first trip I could feel the anxiety working up. I was so worried and scared for him. I didn't want to make him feel that way though. For a week I talked up the dentist and how awesome it would be. Cade even joined in and helped me because Cade LOVES going to the dentist (obviously he must get this from his father).
When we arrived Colin was a little apprehensive while I was filling out the paperwork, but Cade was all smiles!
We waited in the waiting room for a while and read a couple of books. Probably not a smart idea! The one book Colin was so excited about reading was Going To The Dentist with Little Critter. Yea, Little Critter had a cavity and needed a shot in his mouth. ACK!! Are you kidding me? Of course Colin was then a little concerned that he would need a shot, but with lots of reassuring he was convinced there would be no shots.
We made it back into the room and he sat right down so nicely and of course I am thinking this is too good to be true! No sir, it wasn't! He sat there the whole time so nicely! Opened wide like an alligator and everything.
I loved it when they put the little sunglasses on him! It was precious. He loved it too and even asked to look in the mirror so he could see too!
They counted his teeth... and he has 20 of them!
Then the real fun came in when she cleaned them!
He did such a fantastic job! I was so very proud of him. The only thing the dentist told me was I need to try to get rid of the "patsy" but of course I already knew this small bit of information. I am not ready to let "patsy" go and neither is Colin. It is going to be so hard, but I guess we will work on it this summer.
